Hackers redirected text messages and calls from Sweeney to another device. They also logged into X’s account and posted a cryptocurrency schematic.
To scam the American woman, cybercriminals used SIM Swapping. This method involves fraudulently duplicating the SIM card of a person’s mobile phone. First, the cybercriminal impersonates her to obtain the duplicate. Then, he gains access to her personal information.
The American, who has 20.9 million followers on her Instagram profile alone, has not commented on the scam. However, her latest post is a collaboration with Samsung. In the post, Sydney shows off her new phone. “Me, Paris and my Galaxy ZFlip6,” the model wrote on Friday.
