HAMBURG (GERMANY), 25 Jan. (DPA / EP) –
The sports court of the German Football Federation (DFB) today announced the closure of the investigation against St. Pauli, of the German second division, by a prokurda banner displayed in its stadium last year.
The decision of the DFB, according to the statement issued by the organization, took into account that the club “made a donation to the organization Doctors Without Borders.”
However, in the same statement, the DFB said: “In football, political messages are prohibited worldwide, regardless of their content.”
The followers of St. Pauli, traditionally linked with leftist positions, showed a large banner in the October 19, 2019 match against Darmstadt in which it was possible to read: “Biji Rojava” (Long live the Kurdish Struggle).
