These are the sectors with the best salaries in Spain: up to double the average salary

Knowing which sectors have better salary prospects is a great starting point when it comes to guiding a job search, especially both for professionals who are already in a sector and who want to know a scale of its analogs, as well as for people who are looking for training in some field to broaden their job prospects.

But, What are the sectors in that case that promise better salaries in Spain? The InfoJobs-Esade 2021 report on the State of the Labor Market provides some answers.

To do this, they have tracked among all the vacancies that were offered on the platform last year which united three characteristics: have a high amount of demand but few registered for vacancies in proportion, and higher salaries.

From IT to customer service

There is one sector that stands out among the others for its low level of competition: computing and telecommunications. Your best behavior in terms of enrollment by vacancies is also reflected when the positions offered in InfoJobs 2020 are analyzed.

The impact of the pandemic and the consequent decrease in the labor supply, therefore, has been felt in the IT and telecommunications area, but its level of competition remains at enviable levels.

Sectors such as Public Administration, Engineering, Real Estate, Pharmacy, Finance or Legal also appear. By the tail, however, Retail Sales, Customer Service or Tourism appear. To get an idea, the average salary in the IT sector in Spain was 31,898 euros per year, while in Retail it was 16,193.

The best paying jobs

-Computer science: 31,898 euros per year

-Administration: 29,834 euros per year

-Engineering: 29,391 euros per year

-Real Estate and Construction: 30,040 euros per year

-Pharmacy Sector: 27,495 euros per year

-Finance: 27,091 euros per year

-Commercial and sales: 26,895 euros per year

-Legal: 26,313 euros per year

-Education: 25,696 euros per year

-Health and health: 25,012 euros per year

According to the data from the platform, commercial and sales will continue to lead the list of the most demanded in the national market: telemarketer, seller and commercial representative. It is expected that 2022 will be a year of important activity for the commercial teams since these are the key to the growth of the activity of the companies that continue to struggle to recover the level of activity prior to the pandemic or expand their businesses in the most favored sectors. In fact, even retail trade has improved its figures in the current sales campaign in January and February, with 25.5% more vacancies offered than in 2019.

Another profile that will continue to rise in 2022 will be real estate agent, who has also been very present in the platform’s ranking during 2021, due to the boom in the purchase of new or second-hand construction. We are also talking about a sector -Real estate and construction- in which the demand for housing registers its best data in more than a decade. The pandemic has made many people want to change or improve their homes, promoting a strong activity of professionals such as carpenters, plumbers, electricians and masons.

But if we talk about growing sectors, we must highlight then Purchasing, logistics and warehouse, where there are positions such as delivery vehicle driver and warehouse waiter, which have grown a lot in the last year due to the boom in online shopping. According to the data from the latest Pulse Digital Adevinta 2020-2021 report, up to a third of Spaniards shop online each week; and one in four (practically twice as many as before covid) allocates between 21% and 50% of their budget to online shopping.

Finally, another of the profiles that will be most in demand is that of laborer in the manufacturing industry. Throughout all of 2021, it has remained around 4,500 monthly vacancies. We must not forget that the industry in Spain contributes to about 15% of GDP, according to Eurostat data. In addition, the objective of the Government is that this percentage rises to 20%.
