These are the highest paid positions in the construction and real estate sectors: up to 100,000 euros

The year 2021 is coming to an end, still very marked by COVID-19 and by its consequences both on a social and labor level. When the lockdown became mandatory in March 2020, sectors such as construction were hard hit. However, a year later, some markets such as the reform or the purchase and sale of housing have rebounded strongly.

This year we have come to see how the construction companies almost had to fight to hire masons due to their high demand, probably because part of the savings of the families during the confinement was derived to make repairs at home.

In this context, Spring Professional, a consultant for the Adecco Group, has analyzed the jobs most in demand in the construction and real estate sectors.

The profiles and highest paid salaries in Construction and Real Estate

Director of Recruitment is the highest paid profile in Spain in 2021 of the Construction sector and its salary range is very wide depending on the region and the size of the contracting company, ranging between 60,000 and 120,000 euros per year if you exceed the decade of experience in a multinational. It is followed by the posts of Delegate and Technical Director with salaries that reach 90,000 and 85,000 euros per year, respectively.

With maximum salaries that move around 75,000 and 60,000 euros per year there are professionals such as Group Manager, Site Manager ? one of the most demanded ?, Head of Studies and BIM Manager. They are followed by positions such as Architect, Project Manager and Head of MEP Facilities Work that can receive 50,000 euros per year.

In the next step, with maximum salaries that are around 45,000 euros per year, there are profiles such as MEP Installations Engineer, Head of Production and Studies Technician. The latter is the most sought after professional in the sector in 2021.

Finally, in the construction sector, the positions of Site Manager and Draftsman can earn an annual salary of 43,000 and 40,000 euros respectively.

In the real estate sector, Commercial Director is the highest paid profile in Spain in 2021 and their salary range is very wide depending on the autonomy and the type of company, varying between 36,000 and 120,000 euros per year if they exceed a decade of experience in a multinational company.

They are followed by the posts of Technical Director and Head of Expansion with salaries that reach 90,000 and 85,000 euros per year, respectively.

With remuneration that move around 80,000 and 70,000 euros per year maximum are professionals such as Asset Manager, Property Manager, Head of Valuations and Head of Land. This is followed by positions such as Promotions Manager, Capital Markets Analyst, Hotel Development Analyst and Real Estate Consultant (Residential) who can receive 60,000 euros per year.

Finally, in the real estate sector, the positions of Promotion Manager, Real Estate Consultant (Tertiary) and Commercial Promoter can receive a maximum annual salary between 50,000 and 45,000 euros.

And what will be the most demanded profiles in 2022?

If we analyze these two sectors separately, there are notable differences. On the one hand, the Construction sector continues to maintain a classic profile and it will be difficult for it to change its vision when developing its activity and defining the methodology of its processes. Even so, there is a trend towards energy efficiency, an evolution which is accompanied by different subsidies for this aspect that will mark the way towards the certification of the sustainability of works and projects in the sector.

On the other hand, there is a growth in projects related to the industrialization of construction, with the aim of reducing costs and optimizing resources and timings, and moving towards a just-in-time model.

However, civil works projects are stagnant and depend, to a great extent, on the Ministry of Development and, despite the fact that it invests part of the recovery funds in these works, everything still depends on the country. The singular work is, also and in general, paralyzed. But the building works and facilities are growing.

The most reinforced profiles in this pandemic era have been the positions related to the soil departments. Faced with a possible slowdown, construction companies have turned their efforts to hiring specialists in the search for land in order to strengthen their portfolio of projects in the future. What’s more, More and more profiles are sought with passivehouse knowledge or with LEED certifications, well etc.

On the other hand, the real estate sector has been highly affected by the economic-health context. COVID has paralyzed many of the real estate investments, both nationally and internationally, so it is very complex to analyze the future evolution of the sector.

If we look at the situation prior to the outbreak of the pandemic, the forecasts were good, says Spring in his report, with a healthy and growing sector. But in this context of uncertainty, new opportunities arise to reinvent a sector that has sometimes been considered rigid or little given to innovation.
