There is still no official venue for the Saudi Super Cup

The RFEFthrough its Delegate Committee, has just approved the rules for the next edition of the Spanish Super Cup 2022 that will be played in January 2023 and that they say that, as is on record, it is scheduled to be played in Saudi Arabia. What still remains to be determined is the official venue or venues where it will be played.

This is stated in the official federative document: “The matches will take place in the city/s of Saudi Arabia to be determined, unless the competent bodies of the RFEF agree on another venue.” The same rules of the “Final Four” format are maintained, which establishes that the matches are played as a single match and under the following conditions:

1. The winner will be declared the club that, after the regulation time of the match, has scored more goals in favor.

2. If after the regulation time the match ends in a tie on goals, an extra time of 30 minutes divided into two parts of 15 minutes each will be played. The winner of the tie will be the team that, after the extra time of the match, has scored more goals in favor.

3. If at the end of extra time the tie continues, five penalties will be launched by each team, before a common goal, alternating one and the other in the launches, declaring the champion the one that obtains the most goals in the five launches. If the tie continues, they will continue to shoot a penalty each until, having made both equal numbers, one of them has scored a bit more.

The specifications of the penalty shootouts

In addition, and with the sole exception of the substitute for a goalkeeper who cannot continue, only those players who are on the field of play at the end of the match, or those who are temporarily off the field, will be authorized to participate in the penalty shootout. due to injury, changes in equipment, etc.

If, at the end of the match and before or during the penalty shootout, a team has more players than its opponent, it must reduce its number to match that of the rival team, and the referee will be informed of the name and number of the excluded players. None of them may participate in the batch, except in the case described below.

A goalkeeper who is unable to continue before or during the period may be replaced by an excluded player to equalize the number of players or, if his team has not used the maximum permitted number of substitutions, by a designated substitute. on the official list, but the replaced goalkeeper will no longer be able to take part in the shoot-out or take any shots.

If the goalkeeper has already taken a shot, the substitute may not take another until the next penalty shootout.

There could only be Clasico in the final

A Super Cup where there will be no Clásico only in case both teams reach the final. And not like in the previous edition where the blaugrana and rojiblanco faces were seen in the semifinals.
