The trial of the footballer Dani Alves for allegedly sexually assaulting a young woman at the Sutton nightclub will be held from Monday, February 5 to Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at the Barcelona Court.
Section 21 of the court announced this Wednesday the date of the trial, the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) reported. At the trial, Alves will face the Prosecutor's request to sentence him to nine years in prison, while the private prosecution carried out by the complainant demands 12 years in prison.
The alleged victim has also requested that, once the sentence has been served, the Brazilian be subjected to ten more years of supervised release with a restraining order against the victim. The young woman also requests compensation of 150,000 euros in compensation for the “physical and psychological consequences.” An amount that the full-back already deposited in court and that the alleged victim, despite having initially renounced it, requested a few weeks ago.
The events date back to December 30 at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona, where Alves and his alleged victim were partying with friends. The woman claims that Joana Sanz's husband forced her to have sexual relations in the bathroom despite her refusal, while he claims that it was a consensual encounter. The footballer entered preventive detention in Brians II on January 20 and remains there despite the four requests for parole that his defense has presented. The Court refuses and alleges “risk of flight.”
