The writer Javier Marías dies at the age of 70 due to complications with pneumonia

Xavier Marias, renowned Spanish writer, has died early this afternoon in Madrid at the age of 70 due to complications from pneumonia that has had him hospitalized for more than a month, according to the newspaper ‘ABC’. A sad news that no one could imagine since, since his “lung condition” was made public, he had not revealed more details about his state of health.

Let us remember that Javier’s family distributed a brief statement on August 14: “Given the concern raised by the state of health of the writer Javier Marías, we inform you that he suffers from a lung condition from which he is in the process of recovering” in which They explained the illness.

Marías wrote a total of 16 novels with which he has collected many awards. Among these works: ‘El hombre sentimental’, Ennio Flaiano Award; ‘All Souls’, City of Barcelona Award; ‘Corazón tan blanco’, Critics’ Award, IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, Prix l’Oeil et la Lettre; or ‘Tomorrow in battle think of me’, Rómulo Gallegos Prize, Prix Femina Étranger, Mondello Prize, and Fastenrath Prize.
