The World Cup returns to TVE!

The Qatar 2022 World Cup will be seen on TVE. The XXII edition of the most important national team championship in the world, which is being held for the first time in winter between November 21 and December 18 to mitigate the high temperatures in Qatar, will be seen openly in the public entity, after , according to the verTele portal, RTVE has prevailed in the auction organized by Mediaprothe owner of their rights.

The RTVE corporation would have prevailed, according to verTele, with a bid close to 35 million euros, in an agreement that will be initialed very soon with the signing of the contract. The other two large Spanish audiovisual groups, Atresmedia and Mediaset (which broadcast the last three World Cups: South Africa 2010 together with Canal+, Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018), have not come close to those amounts, the closest to 50 million euros that Mediapro expected to get for the sale.

In this way, TVE and the National Team will continue hand in hand, since the public entity has been broadcasting the matches of La Roja, directed by Luis Enrique, in the qualifying phase for the Qatar World Cup, those of the Nations League and the different friendlies.
