MADRID, 15 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish women’s soccer team has arrived this Saturday in Palmerston North, a New Zealand city where it will establish its base camp for a large part of the World Cup, which is held in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20.
Around 6:00 p.m. New Zealand time -8:00 a.m. Spanish peninsular time-, the players and Jorge Vilda’s coaching staff landed at the Palmerston North airport, a town located on the New Zealand north island, capital of the Manawatu-Wanganui region and located about five hundred kilometers south of Auckland.
The team has had a comfortable trip, just over an hour’s flight and with little traffic in New Zealand, due to the national celebration of Matariki or Maori New Year, a holiday throughout the country.
Now, Spain will prepare at the facilities of Massey University, where they are already concentrated to face their debut in the World Cup, on Friday, July 21, against Costa Rica. This Sunday, Vilda’s will resume training.
