The women's soccer team gathers this Monday to prepare for the assault on the Games

The physical condition of Alexia Putellas and Tere Abelleira marks the beginning of preparation in Las Rozas for the 'F4' of the Nations League

MADRID, 18 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish women's soccer team will concentrate this Monday to begin preparing for the 'Final Four' of the Nations League and the qualification for its first Olympic Games, with doubts about whether the midfielders Alexia Putellas (FC Barcelona) and Tere Abelleira (Real Madrid) will stay with the team.

Both the Catalan and Galician players were summoned by the national team coach Montse Tomé despite doubts about her physical condition since the double Ballon d'Or winner has not played since she was injured on November 14 in her left knee and had to pass again through the operating room.

The one from Mollet del Vallès returned to do partial training with the group this week and the Asturian coach made it clear that they will not take risks with her. “We know that Alexia is an important player, she is our captain, she always has been, and from that sporting point of view we believe that she should be there,” she warned after giving the list.

“Here we are going to work on her evolution and with professionalism. We are confident that she can be there, but we have to see her process very carefully. Starting Monday we are going to continue with that process with the professionals who can care for her, but from my perspective point of view, I still think that she is an important player to be here. We are not going to do anything crazy,” Tomé stressed.

We will also have to see what happens with Tere Abelleira, one of the permanent theoretical players of the national team since the last World Cup, but who has not played since the beginning of this month of February due to some muscular problems.

Those chosen by Montse Tomé will gather after midday at the Las Rozas Football City (Madrid) with the news of the young 17-year-old midfielder Vicky López (FC Barcelona) and the returns of forward Alba Redondo (Levante UD) and defender Shei García (Atlético de Madrid).

The national team will carry out its first training session in the afternoon at the federation facilities where it will be until Thursday, when it heads to Seville, where it will play on Friday, February 23 (9:00 p.m.) against the Netherlands at the La Cartuja Stadium in their semi-final of this 'Final Four' of the League of Nations that, in addition to the pass to the fight for the title, will give the winner a direct ticket to the Paris Olympic Games this summer, an event in which the Spanish team has never been. .

Whatever the current world champion does, whether she wins or loses, she will have to play the final or third and fourth place on Wednesday, February 28 on the same stage. In the event of losing to the Dutch, if France won the other semifinal against Germany, this clash for third place would also give Olympic qualification to the winner.
