MADRID, 25 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The seventh edition of the Santander Golf Tour women’s circuit will have ten events, including the Spanish Championship, a doubles tournament, one in match-play format and two belonging to the LET Access Series, and will be held from March 24 in La Peñaza ( Zaragoza) until December in Seville.
This was announced by the organizers in their presentation at the headquarters of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, in an act with Gonzaga Escauriaza, president of the Spanish Golf Federation; Adela Martín, Director of Private Banking and Asset Management for Spain at Banco Santander; Felipe Martín, Director of Media, Online Marketing, Sponsorships and Events of Santander Spain; Javier Matallanas, trustee of the FUNDELA Foundation; and Alicia Garrido, executive director of Sport and Business, the organizing company of the circuit.
Gonzaga Escauriaza has highlighted the continuity that this circuit has and thanked the promotion of the sport of golf. “I especially thank Banco Santander for its commitment to women’s golf and Sport & Business, for the twenty years that it has been promoting professional women’s golf in Spain. Thank you for your perseverance and for dyeing this sport red. Women’s golf is going to give many happiness and illusions to Spain in the coming years,” he said.
For her part, Adela Martín, Director of Private Banking and Asset Management for Spain at Banco Santander, recalled the financial entity’s commitment to athletes. “We have 10 tournaments in 10 cities, which will be attended by 800 of our best clients, we hope to have some magnificent days shared by our players, who are the best ambassadors of the bank and of private banking, and we have every hope of continuing to carry the flag of women’s golf in Spain,” he said.
Felipe Martín, Director of Media, Online Marketing, Sponsorships and Events at Santander Spain, recalled the bank’s commitment to women’s sports. “Santander Golf Tour perfectly reflects the bank’s mission transferred to the world of sponsorship. Our mission is to help people and companies prosper. Thanks to the Santander Golf Tour, players have a women’s national tournament in which they can develop and especially the younger ones can take the opportunity to make that leap into the professional world. When we see Spanish players succeed on the big circuits we always have that pride of having contributed our grain of sand to those successes for Spanish golf and sport” , he pointed.
Alicia Garrido, executive director of Sport & Business and director of the circuit, thanked all the sponsors and collaborators for their collaboration, as well as the media support that the circuit has.
Garrido outlined some of the novelties of the season, in which the Fundela Foundation is incorporated as a beneficiary of the charitable actions carried out in all the tournaments, and explained that the circuit will make a leap in quality in its gastronomic offer, hand in hand with the new collaborators Good Spark -100% organic energy drink- and Homenaje wines, from the La Navarra group.
At the end of the event, the participants traveled to hole 6 of the National Center, where trees were planted to offset the carbon footprint of the 2021 circuit. The Santander Golf Tour continues with its commitment to a sustainable event and will maintain the calculation of the carbon footprint during this edition, with the aim of reducing it and, subsequently, offsetting it.
