The VAR and Castellón, a story of heartbreak in ten controversies

Castellón's relationship with the VAR has not started in the best way. The albinegro set, on his return to professional football ten years later, has seen how the new technology installed in football has reduced them by up to ten controversial actions so far this season, in which the video refereeing did not correct the refereeing performance. Points, many, that have fallen by the wayside for a team mired in relegation places.

Second yellow to Benkhemassa (Castellón 0 – Málaga 1)

After debuting through the big door in the category at the home of Ponferradina, Castellón suffered the first referee error in Málaga's visit to Castalia on the second day. Mohamed Benkhemassa hunted Josep Signo hard at the height of the tibia, which would have led to his expulsion. The referee ended up admonishing Escassi, not involved, and the Sené himself for arguing. The VAR did not enter.

Penalty on Fidalgo (Logronés 1 – Castellón 1)

The Asturian midfielder entered the rival area with still 0-0 in the market and was clearly overwhelmed by the rival. No penalty was awarded nor was the action rectified from the video refereeing.

The turning point (Castellón 0 – Lugo 1)

The errors of the VAR had their peak in Castellón-Lugo. In the 31st minute, he ate a clear penalty over Lapeña at the height of eleven meters. In the final stretch, already in 88, with 0-0, he did not indicate a few hands inside the area after a heel from Jordi Sánchez. In the corner, Marc Mateu shot directly at goal and one of the season's goals was inexplicably annulled.

Previous foul on César Díaz (Castellón 1 – Almería 2)

Óscar Cano broke out at a press conference after this controversial action, with a backpack loaded with decisions that were harmful to his team. Against Almería, whom he knew how to support during the first minutes, they did not signal a foul on César Díaz in the rival field. The result was a vertiginous counter by Almería that ended in a goal from Corpas. One more.

Dkuja's hands in Gijón (Sporting 1 – Castellón 0)

The top scorer in the competition does not need help. However, against Castellón, the Serbian benefited from an illegal control, with his arm, to give continuity to the play that, after several touches, ended up in his boots to put the final goal on the scoreboard.

Jackson and Berrocal in Miranda (Mirandés 1 – Castellón 1)

In Miranda Castellón did not escape arbitration errors, without correction by the VAR. Jackson's first goal came in an apparent offside and, minutes later, no clear hands were indicated inside the area by Berrocal to Cubillas' shot.

Iagio Indias in Castalia (Castellón 0 – Mirandés 1)

The last one came last day, also with Mirandés as the protagonist. This time it was the other central, Trigueros, who knocked down Iago Indias inside the area in a throw-in with all the intention hung by Marc Mateu. The action was reviewed, but the grab was deemed not sufficient.
