The two letters with which Buffett differentiates a truly successful person from the rest

The writer, columnist and coach Marcel Schwantes recalls one of the advice of billionaire investor Warren Buffett when it comes to differentiating a person who has been successful from another who has failed in the attempt. And it all comes down to a two-letter word: “No.”

For Warren Buffett, president of Berkshire Hathaway, these two letters make a difference for all those who want to do business. “The key between successful people and really successful people is that really successful people say NO to almost everything.”

Buffett has learned over the years that the greatest good of the human being is time and that is why he protects it religiously. For this reason, Schwantes recalls that although there are prestigious people who tend to dedicate between 60 and 80 hours a week to their work, those who really succeed do not neglect their mental health or the time they dedicate to their family, hobbies and other interests.

Something that Steve Jobs always agreed to. “I am so proud of the things that we have not done as of those that I have done. Innovation is saying no to 1,000 things,” said the former co-founder and CEO of Apple at the time.

With all this, Schwantes points out a list of things to which you have to know how to say no. First of all, say no to opportunities that are not related to your values. Second, say no to superficial relationships. Third, say no to the overwork of doing everything yourself. And fourthly, say no to neglecting your deepest desires and longings that you want to achieve in your life.
