The Trinidad Alfonso Foundation celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2022 with one of its main initiatives, the FER Project (‘Foment d’Esportistes amb Reptes’), a program that grants economic support and social promotion to athletes from the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation. Valencian Community.
This Friday this edition of the FER 2022 has started, which begins the cycle that will converge in the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris 2024. The FER 2022 Project is made up of 140 components, explained the Foundation chaired by Juan Roig.
Many of them, up to 53, are new faces. These 140 athletes are distributed in the three categories that have existed since the origin of the program, in 2013. 37 of them are included in the “Elite” level and will receive aid ranging between 12,000 and 16,000 euros.
The 43 in the “Promises” category will receive an amount ranging from 6,000 to 8,000 euros. Finally, the 60 members of the “Nursery” category, the youngest, will receive an allocation that varies between 2,000 and 3,000 euros, depending on the results obtained.
In addition, for the fifth consecutive year, the FER Project also maintains the FER Trainers annex, the line of support for some of the best technicians in the Valencian Community. Depending on the number of athletes trained and the category to which they belong, scholarships for trainers range between 3,000 and 6,000 euros.
In this fifth edition, there are 16 beneficiaries. Likewise, four clubs have been distinguished as FER Clubs for the number of FER athletes they have in their ranks. The amounts received by these entities range from 8,000 to 12,000 euros. In total, the amount allocated by Juan Roig, President of the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, for all these aids reaches 1 million euros.
Spanish and Valencian sports figures (Pau Gasol, Saúl Craviotto, Teresa Perales, Ray Zapata, Roberto Bautista, Carlos Soler or Pau Torres, among others) have been protagonists of the event through congratulatory videos for the tenth birthday.
The motto of the FER 2022 Project is “Valencian Revolution”. Since the next Olympic and Paralympic Games are being held in Paris, a certain parallelism has been established between the French Revolution, a very important historical event at the end of the 18th century, and the “Valencian Revolution”, a term that refers to the great movement, which must experience Valencian sport for Paris 2024.
With this metaphor, the athletes of the Region are invoked to continue improving themselves to make this Olympic cycle very successful and to obtain a large delegation in the next Games. In line with this line of argument, the promotional video for FER 2022, which brought together sport, art and history, was recorded at the Ducal Palace in Gandia.
Juan Miguel Gómez, director of the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, reviewed the year 2021 for the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation. First of all, he welcomed the return of popular athletes to the Valencia Half Marathon and Marathon. “They are the essence and soul of these events. If it is important to obtain great marks to place ourselves (or rather, to consolidate ourselves) at the international forefront, almost or more relevant is the presence of amateur athletes, who are the ones who they give passion to this type of event”.
In addition, the head of the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation reiterated that one of the main objectives of this entity is to turn the Valencian Community into a sports community, “a nucleus of reference at the national level”. “We have different strategies to carry out this initiative, but, without a doubt, one of the main ones is to attract all kinds of tournaments to our territory. A good example has been the year 2021, the year in which the Community hosted the women’s basketball Eurobasket and the Women’s Handball World Cup,” he recalled.
For his part, Juan Roig wanted to thank the congratulations received. “Thank you very much for the acknowledgments.
