The Titans intend to hire offensive assistant Brian Callahan of the Bengals as head coach.

The Titans intend to hire offensive assistant Brian Callahan of the Bengals as head coach.

Tom Pelissero, an NFL Network insider, reported on Monday night that the Titans intend to hire Bengal offensive manager Brian Callahan to be their head coach. He has encountered Peyton Manning, Derek Carr, and Matthew Stafford along the way.

Callahan had a second interview via the team on Monday, and despite having scheduled interviews at the Atlanta Falcons or Carolina Panthers for the vacant head coaching positions, he is remaining put, according to Pelissero.

Titans ownership and general manager Amy Adams Strunk and Ran Carthon were seeking a coach to lead a franchise turnaround.

The Bengals have identified Callahan as the ideal candidate for the position, given his instrumental role in their transformation over the last three years.

The NFL Network’s Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Bengals quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher is an internal candidate to replace Callahan.

Rapoport reports that Cincinnati will face competition this week, as Pitcher has scheduled OC talks with the Patriots, Raiders, and Saints.

Tennessee will benefit from Cincinnati’s demise, as Callahan, who served as the Bengals’ offensive lineman from 2019 to 2023 and oversaw the team’s 2021 Super Bowl appearance, is leaving the organization.

Callahan, highly regarded for assisting quarterback Joe Burrow in becoming one of the NFL’s elite quarterbacks, also elicited outstanding play from backup quarterback Jake Browning during the previous season following Burrow’s wrist injury.

Callahan began his professional life in 2010 as a coaching assistant for the Denver Broncos. Before joining the Cincinnati Lions, he spent time with the Detroit Lions as well as the Oakland Raiders, all of which were accompanied by sensational quarterback play.

Callahan, whose father Bill served as the former offensive coordinator for the Raiders and assistant for the Browns, will likely be responsible for acquiring Titans quarterback William Levis, a second-round pick who showed promise towards the end of Tennessee’s 6-11 2023 season.

In both yards and points scored, the Titan’s offense finished 27th or lower in each of the previous two campaigns. Callahan will undoubtedly endeavor to expeditiously address these deficiencies.

The Tennessee Titans are nearing an agreement to replace Mike Vrabel as head coach with offensive head Brian Callahan of the Cincinnati Bengals. Finally, Mike Tannenbaum, a front office analyst, assigns a grade to the Titans’ hire.

From the beginning, it seemed as though Tennessee had selected Callahan as its sixth coach. Callahan, who had spent the previous five seasons in Cincinnati, was the initial candidate to whom the Tennessee Titans extended an interview request and the first to whom they conducted both a virtual and in-person meeting.

Titans researcher Turron Davenport addresses some of the most pressing inquiries regarding the acquisition; national researcher Dan Graziano divulges information he has received regarding Callahan; and draft expert Matt Miller projects the discussion to the draft.

The Tennessee Titans have reached an agreement to appoint the team’s offensive coordinator, Bryan Callahan, as their head coach, according to information obtained by The Associated Press on Monday from a source with knowledge of the matter.

The individual granted the Associated Press an interview under the condition of anonymity due to the pending nature of the agreement.

Mike Vrabel, who was dismissed on January 9 following six seasons and 18 losses in his final 24 games, is replaced by Callahan.

On January 12, Tennessee conducted an online conversation with Callahan, 39, who was the first of ten candidates to address the team.

The Titans in-person interviewed Callahan on Monday and subsequently hired him, according to the source.

On Monday evening, the Titans said nothing. The league did not permit at-large interviews with active NFL personnel until Monday, a day following the regional playoff round.

Since the conclusion of the regular season on January 7, Callahan became the third coach to be hired. In place of Bill Belichick, New England appointed Jerod Mayo and the Oakland Raiders elevated interim coach Antonio Pierce.

Washington, Atlanta, the Los Angeles Chargers, Carolina, and Seattle are all still in search of coaches.

Callahan has played in the NFL for fourteen years. Since 2019, he has served as the offensive coordinator for the Bengals. Many people widely acknowledge his contributions to quarterback Joe Burrow’s development.

Now is his opportunity to collaborate with Tennessee’s quarterback, Will Levis, whom the team selected No. 33 overall in April of last year.

In addition to possessing the seventh overall draft pick, the Titans have the third-most salary cap space in the NFL at this time. They are confident in Levis as their quarterback, following his 3-6 start record as a rookie.

When veteran Ryan Tannehill suffered a right ankle sprain at the end of October, the 33rd overall pick out of Kentucky assumed quarterback duties.
