The third edition of the Track Cycling Champions League will advance its start to October

MADRID, 28 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The third edition of the Track Cycling Champions League will bring forward its traditional competition dates and will begin to be held in October instead of November and will pass through four velodromes, yet to be revealed by the organizers.

“Several factors had to be considered before making the decision to reposition the season at the beginning of the year. We are now aligned with the global calendar of the UCI, our main player. This year differs from the previous two years, as the World Cycling will be in August and they present almost all the disciplines”, recalled Florian Pavia, director of the competition.

In addition, the manager, during the presentation of the ‘Warner Bros Discovery Sports’ cycling season, warned that they wanted to “avoid conflicts” with concentrations of road cycling teams, “with the aim of facilitating the participation of the best cyclists from Endurance whose season plans are generally based on the schedules of their road cycling teams.”

In this way, this Champions League 2023 will begin in October with 72 participants, 36 women and 36 men, who will compete in four velodromes in five rounds. Palma de Mallorca has already hosted the two previous editions, opening both, in 2022 together with Berlin, Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (France) and London (Great Britain), with the English capital hosting two events on consecutive days.
