The tenth edition of the ‘Wings for Life World Run’ brought together this Sunday, May 7, a total of 206,728 people who participated in the only
Simultaneous, global race, without a finish line and that dedicates all the funds raised to the investigation of spinal cord injuries.
As indicated from Red Bull, this is a record figure in this decade of existence of the race that has translated into 5.8 million euros raised for this charitable cause of an event that began at 1:00 p.m., Spanish peninsular time, average hour before the ‘catcher car’, the car that is the goal of the race.
In this particular ‘fight’ between the moving goal and the runners,
No one went further than Japan’s Jo Fuduka and Poland’s Kasia Szkoda, who claimed victory after completing 69 and 55 kilometers respectively.
In addition, along with the popular runners, the races throughout the world have been supported by professional athletes such as the pilots Sebastien Ogier, Luc Alphand, Felipe Fraga or Matthias Walkner, the ‘skateboarder’ Leticia Bufoni, the ski jumper four times world champion Adam Malysz or, in Spain, the number 1 padel couple in 2022, Juan Lebrón and Ale Galán, the Olympic climbing champion, Alberto Ginés, the BMX rider, Courage Adams, and the 11-time world champion of punta punta, Iñaki Osa.
In its tenth edition, ‘Wings for Life World Run’ has held seven organized races in Vienna, Munich (Germany), Zug (Switzerland), Lbjubliana, Zadar (Croatia), Poznan (Poland) and Kakheti (Georgia), and 239 ‘ App Runs’ in the rest of the world, through which runners could join the cause through the official ‘app’ of the event. The sum of all this has meant that the runners traveled together 1,230,000 kilometers.
