The Switzerland-Ukraine is now in the air

UEFA confirmed this Monday that the match between the national teams Switzerland and Ukraine, scheduled for this Tuesday within the last day of Group 4 of League A of the Nations League and marked by Covid positives from three Ukrainian players, “remains as planned, pending the approval of the competent Swiss authorities.”

UEFA sources confirmed to EFE that the organization “remains in contact with the associations of Ukraine and of Switzerland of football, which in turn are in communication with the relevant local authorities “.

Of facts, Ukraine's players trained on Monday at the Swissporarena in Lucerne and on the official website of the UEFA the match against the Swiss team does not appear as postponed.

Andriy Shevchenko, Ukraine coachHe said on Monday that “we expect a very tough game (against Switzerland). We will fight to the end. We will think if we can summon new players, but it is difficult in such a short time ”.

For his part, Vladimir Petkovic, Switzerland coachHe stressed that “Ukraine is a very compact team, very effective when it comes to taking advantage of its opportunities. We still haven't won a match this year; we want to do it this Tuesday. Switzerland deserves more for what we show against Spain, Germany and Ukraine itself ”.

Petkovic assured that “We want to continue playing against the best teamsSo we have to stay in League A and continue to play ambitious and constructive football, even if sometimes we have to adapt and be more defensive, as happened on Saturday against Spain. It would probably be easier for us to impose our style if we descended, but I prefer to play against the best, “he concluded.

If last October, Ukraine lost a friendly with France 7-1 due to ten casualties by Covid, now there have been three players who have tested positive and remain isolated in a hotel in Switzerland. Is about Eduard Sobol, Evgen Makarenko and Dmytro Riznyk.

Switzerland and Ukraine are part, along with Spain and Germany, from Group 4 of League A of the Nations League, and must meet this Tuesday in Lucerne (20.45h) on the last day of the initial phase of the competition, in which Spaniards and Germans will play for the final four of it.

Two days ago the Ukrainian team lost to the German in Berlin (3-1) with five casualties among its players due to Covid-19 positives and before the contagion situation the UEFA keeps in contact with both the federation of Ukraine as with that of Switzerland and the authorities of this country to determine if the meeting between both teams is postponed permanently.
