The Sports Sector Conference has approved this Monday the territorial distribution and distribution criteria of a 75 million euro item during 2021 and 2022 destined for the Autonomous Communities and the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla for the implementation of reforms and investments aimed at the revitalization, restructuring and modernization of the sports sector.
The Minister of Culture and Sports, Miquel Iceta, accompanied by the president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Franco, chaired the meeting of the Sports Sector Conference at the CSD headquarters, where they specified the departure for the regional councilors designed entirely to renovate the facilities of the High Performance and Technification Sports Centers.
The objective is “to promote their adaptation to the new socioeconomic reality through the processes of digital transformation and ecological transition that are necessary for their modernization”.
Specifically, the actions to be carried out are part of the project ‘Modernization of High Performance Centers: Plan Energía Deporte 2.0’. It includes various actions aimed at replacing the current energies used in their operation by others with lower polluting emissions, as well as the renewal of equipment to obtain maximum energy performance from each of the systems they have, a series of actions established within the Ecological Transition line of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan promoted by the Government.
In total, over the next two years, 75 million euros will be earmarked for the modernization of Spanish sports facilities. Specifically, throughout the last quarter of 2021 the investment will be 49 million euros, to which must be added another 26 planned for next year. In this way, at least 54 modernization centers and / or sports facilities will be renovated, improve their energy efficiency and update their infrastructures.
