MADRID, 12 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The women’s quartet of team pursuit left this Wednesday the best Spanish performance in the Track Cycling World Championship that began at the Parisian velodrome of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, achieving the national record and a 12th place.
Tania Calvo, Isabella Escalera, Ziortza Isasi and Eukene Larrarte improved on the previous national record (4:36.384) set at the Nations Cup in Glasgow, leaving it now at 4:35:662 to sign 12th place in the World Cup.
The bad side of the performance of the Spanish was the fall of Eukene Larrarte, notably reducing the options of making a better record. Meanwhile, the men’s pursuit team made up of Alberto Pérez, Jaime Romero, Erik Martorell and Joan Martí Bennassar, one of the youngest in the Championship with an average age of 22, completed their qualifying round with a time of 4:04.753 to occupy the 15th final place.
In the team sprint, the trio made up of Ekain Jiménez, Pepe Moreno and Alejandro Martínez concluded the qualifying round in 14th position with a time of 45.196.
