The Spanish padel teams qualified without problems for the semifinals of the World Championship that is being played in Doha after winning with authority 3-0 their qualifiers against Belgium and Italy, respectively, and will now seek the finals against France.
The first to get into the penultimate round was the women’s team led by Icíar Montes, who remains firm in their defense of the title and did not give the Belgians too many options, against whom they only gave up four games, three of them in the opening match. that resulted in a 6-0, 6-3 victory for Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar against Astrid Dierckx and An-Sophie Mestach.
Later, the couple formed by Patty Llaguno and Marta Ortega made the second point by beating Helena Wickaert-Elyne Boeykens 6-0, 6-1, while the 3-0 was closed by Paula Josemaría and Lucía Sainz against Dorien Cuypers-Evelyne Dom by a double 6-0.
For its part, the men’s team led by Juanjo Gutiérrez also decisively resolved their duel against an Italy that planted a little more resistance, but was not enough to create problems for the Spanish.
