The Spanish table tennis team has beaten Greece in their second match in the group stage of the absolute European Team Championship, which is being held in Malmö (Sweden), a result that allows them to advance to the round of 16.
In the first duel, María Xiao defeated Ioanna Gerasimatou comfortably (3-0), but Sofía-Xuan Zhang could not win the second point and lost to Aikaterini Toliou (1-3).
Subsequently, María Berzosa from Burgos, in her debut in an absolute European Championship after winning three medals in the youth European Championship last July, defeated Konstantina Paridi (3-1). Finally, Xiao beat Aikaterini Toliou without hesitation (3-0) and closed the tie.
In this way, Spain recovers from the narrow defeat (2-3) against the host Sweden in the first match of the group stage. With this result, he secures his place in the round of 16 and keeps alive the hope of achieving one of the places by ranking in the next World Championship, and one step away from the direct places for the quarterfinalists.
