MADRID, 12 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ciudad del Fútbol will host this Sunday, starting at 11:00 a.m., the First Christmas Tournament of the Spanish refugee team, a four-game event, with semifinals, final and third and fourth place, to play soccer and celebrate the Christmas dates, according to a statement from the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
This Sunday, the training fields of the federation headquarters host a tournament played in four games, with semifinals, final and third and fourth place. In addition to the two teams that will be formed by the players of the Spanish refugee team, two teams from the Dragones de Lavapiés association have been invited, which make up vulnerable people and refugees in Madrid.
This team has already been working since this month of November on a new sports season under the command of Jesús Paredes, RFEF ambassador for the Unity Cup, organized by UEFA and supported by UNHCR. It is made up of a group of women and men footballers who have refugee status in Spain and who come from different parts of the world.
Afghanistan, Somalia, Ukraine, Mali and other countries merge with the colors of Spain in a group of people who, thanks to the project developed by the Department of Equality, Social Responsibility and Sustainability of the RFEF, in collaboration also with the Pinardi entity, “They find in the practice of football a way for their real inclusion in a society different from their own.”
