The Parc Olimpic de La Seu d’Urgell begins this Friday the selective Olympic slalom, the ‘Olympic trials’ of the Royal Spanish Canoeing Federation, to be in the Paris 2024 Games, which will be decided on the first weekend of April at the Pau-Pyrénées Whitewater Stadium.
The names for the Spanish boats already classified to be in Paris in less than four months will be known on the occasion of the 2nd and 3rd Spanish Cup of the modality in a competition in which a total of 76 senior kayak paddlers have registered. and canoe both male and female.
The slalom paddlers will be the first to play for their tickets, in a first stop on the La Seu d’ Urgell track (Lleida) starting this Friday. The registration for the ‘Olympic Trials’ is made up of 49 senior paddlers in K1 (34 men and 15 women) and 27 seniors in C1 (15 men and 12 women), where three of the four paddlers who already attended the Tokyo 2020 appointment: Maialen Chourraut, Nuria Vilarrubla and David Llorente.
In addition, the best national figures such as Miren Lazkano, Laia Sorribes, Klara Olazabal, Leire Goñi, Ainhoa Lameiro, Miquel Travé, Pau Echaniz, Manuel Ochoa, Luis Fernández or Daniel Pérez will fight for the Olympic places over the next ten days, with the absence of Olatz Arregui due to injury.
The events of the Spanish Cup in this second edition will be Friday and Saturday, leaving for Sunday, March 31, the selective Olympic Kayak Cross, for which 122 paddlers have registered, of which 51 are in the senior category (34 men and 17 women).
