The Valencian driver Nerea Martí will race for the Spanish team Campos Racing in the inaugural season of the F1 Academy, an exclusively female category that will try to prepare young drivers to advance to other levels of competition such as the W Series, Formula 1, the Formula 2 and Formula 3.
Martí made his debut in formulas in 2019 in the F4 Spanish Championship with the Formula de Campeones-Praga España team -with a podium in his first race and finishing the campaign in sixteenth place-, and later went on to formula 3 at the hands of the W Series in 2021 -after the cancellation of the 2020 season due to the coronavirus-, the year in which she became the ‘rookie’ of the year.
In 2022, she took her first pole position at round one in Miami and also two podium finishes throughout the season, finishing seventh in the championship. Martí also participated in the FIA Formula 3 test for women at Magny-Cours in November last year.
“I am very happy to join Campos Racing for the first season of the F1 Academy. It is an excellent new opportunity to continue taking steps forward in my sports career and I have no doubt that together Campos Racing and I will achieve all our goals,” he said. Marti.
The team manager, Adrian Campos Jr., defined Martí as “one of the most competitive drivers in recent seasons”. “I am sure that we will achieve good results together. It is exciting to have a Valencian driver in a Valencian team and fight for an international championship”, he pointed out.
“Nerea has had the support of the Formula de Campeones and Circuit de Valencia Ricardo Tormo since he began his career in single-seaters and we hope that he will have their support to continue progressing at the highest international level”, he continued.
Martí is the fourth driver to be announced as part of the F1 Academy grid, after Lena Buhler from Switzerland, Bianca Bustamante from the Philippines and Jessica Edgar from Britain.
In addition to Campos Racing -Spanish F4 champion in 2022-, the French ART Grand Prix -team with which the Frenchman Victor Martins was crowned F3 champion this year-, the British Carlin -second by teams in F2-, the Dutch MP Motorsport -team and driver champion with Felipe Drugovich in F2- and the Italian PREMA Racing -f3 team champion-.
The inaugural season will comprise seven events of three races each, which equates to a total of 21 races and more than fifteen days of official testing.
