The third day of the World Sailing Championship that is taking place in The Hague (Netherlands) left a new provisional place for Spain to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with the entry into action of the ILCA 7.
Of the six classes that are already competing in the World Cup, Spain has five that are in provisional country places for the Games next summer in the French capital: 49er, 49er FX, Nacra 17, ILCA 7 and 470 Mixed .
The instability of the wind and the strong current set the tone for the third day of the Olympic Class World Cup. Diego Botín and Florian Trittel remain on the World Cup podium, second in the 49er after an exceptional round of regattas in which they went 1-1-2, only two points from gold.
With a large fleet of 138 participants in ILCA 7 and 109 in ILCA 6, these two classes joined those that have already been competing in the World Cup with good results from the Spanish in ILCA 7, where, in addition to placing Spain in leading positions By country, Joel Rodríguez closes the first Top5 of the classification.
On the other hand, it was also a good day for Tara Pacheco and Andrés Barrio, in Nacra 17. The Canaries rose from 10th to 7th place after adding an excellent 4-3-2. In 49er FX, the conditions made things difficult for Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló, who with an 11-7-4 go to eighth place.
