The Spanish Badminton Federation and the Elena Tertre Foundation sign a collaboration agreement

MADRID, 23 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Badminton Federation (FESBA) and the Elena Tertre Foundation have presented this Monday at the facilities of the High Performance Center (CAR) in Madrid a collaboration agreement by which the federative entity undertakes to make visible the consequences of osteosarcoma and to raise funds for his research.

The Elena Tertre Foundation is dedicated to helping with osteosarcoma research so that science can find a cure for this cancer that, like in Elena’s case, many children cannot overcome, as well as helping to improve the quality of life of children. sick people and the needs of their families.

Present at this event were, in addition to Elena’s founders and parents, Elena Boyé and David Tertre; the president of the Foundation, José Ignacio Tertre; Dr. Eduardo Ortiz, Head of the Orthopedic Oncological Surgery Section of the La Paz Hospital; the Deputy Director General of High Competition of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), Aitor Canibe; and the president of the FESBA, Andoni Azurmendi; in addition to all the CAR Madrid players who train under the orders of the sports director, Arturo Ruiz.

Azurmendi announced “the signing of a star.” “And what better place to do it than here, at the CAR, where her teammates from the Spanish badminton team train daily. Elena Tertre becomes part of our team through the legacy she has left us,” he said.

Meanwhile, José Ignacio Tertre briefly explained the objectives of the Foundation before giving way to Elena’s parents. “We know that she will now be watching us from heaven,” she said, remembering that she faced this disease “always with a smile.”

For his part, Dr. Ortiz stressed the need to pay attention to osteosarcoma, a rare type of cancer that originates in the bones and usually affects children and adolescents, and the importance of early detection.

Canibe, who excused the absence of the president of the CSD, Víctor Francos, valued the work done by the Elena Tertre Foundation, thanked the FESBA for its involvement and encouraged all the athletes present to become “ambassadors of this type of causes that are worth more.” than an Olympic gold.

As it already did on the occasion of the I Elena Tertre Foundation Solidarity Race held on May 17 in Las Rozas (Madrid), the FESBA will collaborate in all those actions that serve to help raise funds for osteosarcoma research, although it will be especially involved in a program for the early detection of this cancer that Elena fought against and for which a protocol will soon be developed.
