The South African Victor Gomes will direct the Spain-Japan match

MADRID, 29 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FIFA confirmed this Tuesday the appointment of South African referee Victor Gomes for Thursday’s match between the Spanish team and Japan, corresponding to the third day of Group E of the World Cup in Qatar.

The 39-year-old referee was already in charge of directing the duel between France and Australia in this World Cup, with a clear 4-1 victory for the current champion, and whistled the final of the last African Cup between Senegal and Egypt.

Gomes will count as assistant referees with his compatriots Zakhele Siwela and Souru Phatsoane, with Salima Mukangansa from Lesotho acting as fourth official, while in the VOR room the Senegalese Fernando Guerrero will intervene as VAR.
