The Social Security remembers: you can benefit from this supplement in your pension

Social Security has once again reminded that people who have recently had a child can benefit from an increase in their pension through the complement to reduce the gender gap. It is a help that can only be received by one of the two parents and, in particular, is aimed at women, “who suffer more in their working life the impact of having a child”, as they explain.

However, it should be noted that the father can also request this supplement, as long as they have been more affected in their working life than the mother.

As explained by Social Security, when neither of the two parents has been harmed by having periods without contributions or by job reductions, this benefit is awarded directly to the mother, although in the case of two women, the benefit will be directed to the one with the lower pension.

What is the complement to reduce the gender gap?

This complement is part of a fixed amount of 378 euros per year per child, up to a maximum of four children. In other words, a woman with a child will receive 27 euros a month more on her pension; with two children, he will have 54 euros more per month, and so on.

The provision will be paid in 14 payments and it is processed together with the application for the pension at the National Institute of Social Security. However, not all parents can receive this supplement. Only those people who meet the following assumptions may request this aid:

– Cause a widow’s pension due to the death of the other parent for the sons or daughters in common, provided that one of them has the right to receive an orphan’s pension.

– Causing a retirement or permanent disability pension and having interrupted or affected their professional career on the occasion of birth or adoption, with certain conditions related to the contribution.

Who is excluded from this add-on?

Despite complying with the assumptions, the Administration does not recognize the right to the supplement to those parents who:

– They have been deprived of parental authority.

– Parents who have been convicted of violence against women, exercised on the mother.

– The parent who has been convicted of exercising violence against their sons or daughters.

This is the way to get a permanent disability pension without asking for it

So you can combine pension and work if you want to extend your contribution to Social Security
