Following the return of Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia to Spain, Queen Letizia returned to Paris to witness the progress of Spanish athletes at the Olympic Games. And, for the moment, the presence of the Asturian consort is bringing good luck.
This Thursday afternoon, after supporting the Spanish women’s water polo team and witnessing the 20-kilometre walk first-hand, she supported Carlos Alcaraz in his quarter-final match, which ended with a victory for the tennis player from Murcia (6-3 / 7-6) against the American Tommy Paul.
Before the match, Felipe VI’s wife shared her impressions with David Ferrer, the captain of the Olympic tennis team (pictured above). In the stands, during the match, she showed her enthusiasm for each game and set won by the Murcia champion. The fan and sunglasses helped her cope with the heat and the smile she showed after the match was the same as that of all the Spaniards glued to the screen to watch the match of Alcaraz, the number 3 tennis player in the world behind the Italian Jannik Sinner and the Serbian Novak Djokovic. The young man did not have the same luck on Wednesday, when he was eliminated in doubles with Rafa Nadal.
The Queen put her holidays in Palma on hold on Wednesday to return to Paris, where she was seen last Friday, July 26, during the opening of the games. She then returned with the King to Palma and Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia took over from her in Catalan lands until Tuesday. This Wednesday, they had a meeting at the Spanish Embassy in Paris.
