14 metals for the hostess

The Spanish karate and parakarate team closed this Sunday the European Championship held in Guadalajara with four medals in the last day, the silver for the male and female kata teams and the gold for Isabel Fernández and Vicente Yánguez.
Thus, Spain finished its participation at home with 14 medals, in fourth position in the karate medal table and first in the parakarate medal table: five golds, three silvers and six bronzes.
After the prolific day on Saturday, the kata teams were proclaimed runners-up in Europe. Sergio Galán, Raúl Martín, Alejandro Manzana and Óscar García lost to Turkey and Lidia Rodríguez, Raquel Roy and María López were unable to defeat Italy.
Meanwhile, Isabel Fernández and Yánguez were proclaimed champions in the K30 wheelchair category for women and men. On Saturday, 10 medals fell: Damián Quintero and Paola García in individual kata, three bronzes with Isabel Nieto (-68 kg), Babacar Seck (+84 kilos) and Nadia Gómez (-50 kg) in kumite.
The other five were from parakarate: gold for Carlos Huertas (Intellectual disability K-21), silver for Lucía Sánchez (Intellectual disability K-21) and bronzes for Francisco José Lozano (Visual disability K-10), Andrea Matari (Intellectual disability K-22) and Víctor Manuel Prieto (Intellectual disability K-22).
