The Setién plan: today last training session and mini vacation

Quique Setién, who finally saved 'in extremis' the head to continue leading the team at least until the end of the season, together with his staff, he has designed the preparation for the coming weeks, with the priority objective of arriving in the best possible conditions to the match that will take place on August 8 against Naples at the Camp Nou.

Both yesterday and today the team will exercise in the Ciutat Esportiva and then start a mini vacation, which will last five days. The objective of this break is for the players to make a 'reset' after a league end certainly bleak -they lost the championship despite having a two-point lead with Real Madrid at the start of the confinement- and very convulsed in the environment, with cross declarations between the coach and the captain, and unanimous criticism of the team's game, with the defeat against Osauna (1-2) at the Camp Nou as the high point of the crisis.

Setién wants his players to disconnect and charge the batteries, so he has recommended that during these days of rest they forget everything related to soccer and take it as if they were already on vacation. No work plan will be given to them and it will be totally voluntary.

The technicians consider that with the two weeks ahead, plus all the workload accumulated during these two months, there will be more than enough time to arrive in optimal conditions for the Champions League match.

Only injured players will have to continue with their recovery pattern. It so happens that the francés French clan ’en bloc is in that situation: Antoine Griezmann and Clement Lenglet have it much easier than Samuel Umtiti and Ousmane Dembélé to be in the second leg match of the Champions League.

The only special case will be the Danish Martin Braithwaite, since the striker cannot play the Champions League because he is not registered and we will see if UEFA allows him to train with his teammates due to the Covid 19 security protocol: remember that the LaLiga prohibited Dembélé coincided in the locker room with his teammates as he was not registered in the competition. If so, Setien could give him a definitive vacation before the end of the season.
