The Saudi Cycling Federation and the Spanish Abarca Sports, management company of the Movistar Team, have signed a collaboration agreement on Monday whereby both parties commit to developing technical personnel, improving cooperation in training programs and supporting events in the country Asian.
The agreement was ratified by the president of the Saudi Cycling Federation, Abdullah Alwathlan, and by the president of Abarca Sports and General Manager of the Movistar Team, Eusebio Unzué.
The aim is to “develop technical personnel, enhance cooperation in training programs, exchange experiences, hold regular workshops and support events, races and activities” in Saudi Arabia in the coming years. The cooperation between the parties is aimed at “jointly developing cycling projects in the Kingdom at all levels”.
Movistar began its activity in the highest category of professional cycling in 1980, and is currently the oldest squad (43 years) on the UCI World Tour, in addition to being confirmed as the first team in the world ranking in 1992, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. .
In 2018, the women’s Movistar Team was created, which in 2022 achieved victory in the Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia and La Vuelta a España. In addition, the team is committed to sustainability and innovation practices in the use of technology and big data to improve the competitiveness of its cyclists.
