The president of the COE, Alejandro Blanco, also underlined that: “In Barcelona and Catalonia, sport has always had a special dimension. In this city there has been something that has been fundamental and that has taught us all: the large number of clubs in which, in addition to tennis, there was a social part that has created a generation of citizens with the values of sport ”.
For his part, the president of the RFET, Miguel Díaz Román, highlighted the historic day for the entity: “Having a headquarters in property after more than one hundred years of history of our Federation is something very important. We have a fantastic relationship with the Catalan institutions, we go hand in hand in many things and there was no reason to change because we are very comfortable in Catalonia ”.
Since its foundation in 1909 at the Real Club de Tenis San Sebastián, the RFET has stayed in different locations in the city of Barcelona. The most recent at the Estadi Olímpic “Lluís Companys” on the Montjuïc mountain.
