The Royal Spanish Football Federation showed “its deep concern” this Wednesday after the searches and arrests carried out by the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard at the RFEF headquarters in Madrid, while announcing that it is offering “all collaboration” to Justice.
“Today, the RFEF has offered full collaboration to the State Security Forces and Bodies, as well as to Justice, after the search of its headquarters; and has opted for absolute transparency in the institution that directs football in Spain,” said the RFEF in a statement after an intense day in Las Rozas (Madrid).
The UCO launched an operation for crimes of corruption and money laundering with searches in the Ciudad del Fútbol of Las Rozas and the arrest of up to seven people, collaborators of former president Luis Rubiales for contracts for the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia. The RFEF noted in its statement that “the ultimate consequences must be reached in the ongoing investigation.”
“The Federation shows its deep concern about the events that occurred today and advocates offering all possible transparency, honoring the values that football represents and that its leaders must defend, and must be an example for society,” ends the note.
