The Mercantile Court 3 of Madrid has once again agreed with Mediapro and, in clarification of the sentence, has definitively set at 2.1 million (2,125,369) the compensation that the Spanish Football Federation must pay for improperly excluding the producer from the 2019 VAR contestaccording to Iusport.
The May 15, 2019, the Federation published on its website the call for a contest for the provision of the arbitration assistance service through video and the provision of the necessary equipment for the service. The contract covered all official competitions from the 2019-20 to 2022-23 season.
The Federation ended up choosing the Hawk-Eye company as the service provider until the 2022-2023 season to the detriment of Mediapro. This adjudication was challenged by the Jaume Roures groupin whose lawsuit a ruling has just been handed down declaring that the RFEF’s actions caused “objective damage” to the operator and initially condemned it to pay 1.2 million euros in compensation.
However, Mediapro He requested a clarification of the sentence when he understood that there was an error in the amount. The 3,375,266 euros that they initially claimed should be reduced to 2,125,369 euros, not 1,249,897, as was set by mistake in the sentence. Well, in a car dated March 15, to which Iusport has had access, the judge has once again agreed with Mediapro and, in clarification of the sentence, has definitively set the compensation at 2.1 million (2,125,369) that the Federation must pay for improperly excluding the production company from that contest.
