The RFEF denounces the racist chants at Real Avilés-Recreativo Granada

MADRID, 13 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) confirmed this Tuesday that it has denounced the racist episode that took place at Real Avilés-Recreativo Granada last weekend, when the player of the Andalusian team Samu Omorodion suffered insults from a sector ” isolated and very concrete” of the stands of the Román Suárez Stadium in Avilés.

“The Royal Spanish Football Federation has denounced, through its competent bodies, the racist chants that occurred during the match between Real Avilés and Recreativo Granada, corresponding to the ‘playoff’ for promotion to the First Federation. Some facts by the that the match referee, Javier Figueiredo Comesaña, activated the racism protocol,” the agency announced in a statement.

At the time of the shouting and the Federation’s anti-racist protocol was put into operation, the referee gave the order for the public address system to warn that the chants should stop or the game would be suspended, something that ultimately did not have to be carried out.

The RFEF has shown its “solidarity” and “full support” for the player and his club, Granada Club de Fútbol. The federation’s commitment against racism is total, as shown by the ‘Racists, get out of football’ campaign, which it maintains active with the aim of eradicating any sign of xenophobia and discriminatory violence from the fields and pavilions.
