The Royal Spanish Winter Sports Federation (RFEDI) has reached an agreement on Tuesday with different federations to continue promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities in snow sports, it said in a statement.
The RFEDI have signed this agreement with the Spanish Federation of Sports for the Blind (FEDC), the Spanish Federation of Sports for People with Physical Disabilities (FEDDF) and the Spanish Federation of Sports for People with Cerebral Palsy and Acquired Brain Damage (FEDPC) .
The objective they have been working for is to improve their proposals for alpine skiing and snowboarding competitions. That is, to achieve a “common commitment to promote winter sports and offer better experiences to their young athletes.”
“Following the joint work line of the last seasons between the RFEDI and the adapted sports federations in the line marked by the CSD, it has been agreed to play the 1st Inclusive Cup of Spain in which athletes can participate with and without disability of alpine skiing and snowboarding, “recalls the RFEDI.
The 1st Inclusive Cup with a joint circuit seeks to promote the values of sport and its social purpose in such a way that “admiration and respect is reciprocal.” In addition, in the long term it seeks “to favor the access and free mobility of all athletes with disabilities, especially those with reduced mobility, to the facilities and competitions of the ski resorts”.
In this circuit, athletes can participate jointly, offering new possibilities to develop winter sports. The calendar of the two alpine events for the Circuit where RFEDI athletes can attend as guests will be in Baqueira (January 25-26) and Sierra Nevada (March 21-22), while snowboarding will be held in Sierra Nevada ( January 25-26), Formigal (February 8-9) and Baqueira (March 27-28).
