The record broken by Ibra at 39

Zlatan Ibrahimovic broke a new career record this Sunday: he became the oldest player to score 15 goals in a Serie A season. At 39 years and 169 days, the Swedish striker achieved the first goal of the game that his team, Milan, beat Fiorentina 2-3 in Serie A.

Just before returning to the Swedish national team for the first time since Euro 2016 (after which he decided to end his international career), Ibra achieved this emblematic mark at Artemio Franchi, with which his Milan took the lead in the minute 9. The former Barcelona player was returning to Serie A and as a starter for the first time since the muscle injury he suffered on February 28 in the match against Roma. He reappeared entering the second half of the round of 16 of the Europa League on Thursday against Manchester United (who eliminated Stefano Pioli's men).

“The more time passes, the younger I feel,” Ibra later told the Sky Italia channel. “After a defeat and being eliminated from the Europa League, the 'scudetto' is what remains. We want to win it at all costs. We show character and so we have to continue, ”added the Milan striker, who is 6 points behind the leader, an Inter that did not play this weekend against Sassuolo due to an outbreak of Covid-19 in Antonio Conte's squad.

Ibra, with 112 matches and 62 goals with Sweden behind him, joins the Swedish national team for the qualifying phase matches for the Qatar 2022 World Cup against Georgia (March 25) and Kosovo (28), in addition to the friendly against Estonia on the 31st. If you play either of them you will become the oldest player to act for Sweden.

It was Milan's 12th away win in the current Serie A, with which it equaled its club record in a season and with 5 more away games to visit. After Ibra, Erick Pulgar tied and Franck Ribéry put Fiorentina ahead, 14th. Brahim Díaz (on loan from Real Madrid) and Hakan Çalhanoglu sentenced for Milan.
