The Real Madrid Foundation served more than 62,000 children from 80 countries in 2020-21

MADRID, 3 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Real Madrid Foundation carried out socio-educational and sports projects in which more than 62,000 children participated in 80 countries in the 2020-21 financial year, despite the restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as reported at the meeting of its Board of Trustees. with the presence of the president of Real Madrid CF, Florentino Pérez.

In a ceremony held in Real Madrid City, the Foundation’s Board of Trustees approved the accounts for the 2020-21 season to promote these socio-sports projects of education, integration and development cooperation.

Outside of Spain, and taking into account the sanitary restrictions imposed by the countries, the Real Madrid Foundation last season attended more than 40,000 girls, boys and young people in social projects, who received sports education in values, nutritional contribution, health care and regular training.

In total, the Real Madrid Foundation promoted 185 clinics, campuses and Football programs to serve 9,000 minors in 16 countries, in addition to 3 types of summer campuses in Spain and a clinic in Real Madrid City.

The commitment to digitization allowed that telematically, through the launch of the omnichannel platform Sports Values ​​AcademyTV, the training of 1,000 trainers, educators and technicians of the projects in the entity’s methodology was continued.

In Spain, adapting to the closures of basic health areas and the health regulations of each locality, more than 8,000 beneficiaries participated in the different lines of activity, including social sports schools for the integration of soccer and basketball, inclusive sports and adapted sports for people with disabilities. different capacities, as well as in projects in centers for minors.

The work carried out in prisons with more than 1,500 inmates was also partially resumed, as well as programs for the unemployed, the elderly and the homeless, among other disadvantaged groups served by the entity.

For the 2021-22 season, the Board of Trustees of the Real Madrid Foundation has approved an Action Plan that guarantees the sustainability of projects inside and outside of Spain, taking into account the limitations that may arise for health reasons and that could affect the face-to-face activities.

This plan contemplates the continuity in the effort to generate resources that guarantee sustainability and in the use of digital conversion to promote the solidarity of Madridistas to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda ( UN).
