The Real Madrid Foundation receives the Laureus Award

The Real Madrid Foundation has been one of the winners in the Laureus Awards 2022, specifically in the Sport for Good Society category. An award that recognizes the work of Real Madrid which, since 1997, has helped the development of society and young people around the world through sport. The Real Madrid Foundation is the first winner in this category.

Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid, thanked the award in the Real Madrid media. “This recognition of the Real Madrid Foundation is a great honor for our club and the millions of Madridistas who are proud of the immense solidarity work we carry out, capable of reaching all corners of the world. This award represents a great boost for all those who work tirelessly on a daily basis with the sole purpose of improving the quality of life of the weakest in our society, especially children who are at risk of social exclusion”, said Florentino Pérez.

The president of Real Madrid He added that “I always say that the Real Madrid Foundation is the soul of our club, it represents all the values ​​that have made Real Madrid the most beloved and admired institution in the world. It is the first time that a Laureus Prize has been awarded to an entity that is recognized for its work in improving society through the values ​​of sport. You know that this shield never gives up and will continue to be there where we are most needed”.

The award ceremony was through a virtual gala and Rafael Nadal was in charge of presenting the award to the Real Madrid Foundation. Rafa Nadal, honorary member of Real Madrid, explained that “This award is for an organization that uses the values ​​of sport to help improve society. They believe that sport is more than physical exercise. I am delighted that the winners are not only from Spain, but are related to a club that I love.” Butragueno, Raul, Casillas and Figo accompanied Florentino Pérez in the act.
