The Ray is paid on Mondays

Rayo Vallecano has subscribed to Mondays. At least, that is clear from the schedules corresponding to the next three days of the League. That same day he will face Albacete (J36), Sabadell (J37) and Leganés (J38). Something that has drawn powerfully attention, since it had only happened two other times earlier this season.

Sporting they chained three meetings on Monday, between days 19 and 21, against Leganés, Lugo and Fuenlabrada. So did Lugo, between 23 and 25, against Leganés, Espanyol and Oviedo. However, the most significant case was that of Girona, which is the one who takes the cake. The Catalan team came to link four duels – those of Rayo, Tenerife, Sabadell and Ponferradina – corresponding to the days between 18 and 21.

It should be remembered that the first game was not held on Monday this campaign until the eighth match and it was the Alcorcón-Mallorca. It is precisely the potter team the one that has played – or is going to play – the most matches that day of the week, a total of nine occasions (Mallorca, Logroñés, Ponferradina, Zaragoza, Mirandés, Almería, Cartagena, Castellón and Albacete). Just at the other end would be Las Palmas, which has only played one, that date with Girona (J11).

A respite after the 'binge'

El Rayo faced three crashes in just eight days, in which they came back and beat Girona (2-1), fell to Mirandés (0-1) and drew at Logroñés (0-0). Now, Iraola's men will have a small truce to prepare for Monday's duel against Albacete (Vallecas, 7:00 p.m.). A time to also recover important troops like Fran García, who ended up with ankle problems in Las Gaunas and had to be replaced. “It has been twisted and has swollen. We are going to see the evolution in the week,” confirmed coach Iraola, that that last day called Velázquez, already recovered from the injury.
