The Rafa Nadal Tour by Mapfre says goodbye to Madrid

The Madrid tournament of Rafa Nadal Tour by Mapfre It has concluded today at the facilities of the International Tennis Club, this being the first stage after four and a half months of stoppage due to the coronavirus. Around 330 young tennis players have participated in the competition, marked by the enthusiasm and desire of the participants to return to the courts, despite the necessary security measures due to the pandemic.

From July 18 until today, the day of the finals, 330 games have been played. The winners of the stage have been: Sergio Planella, in the men's U-14, from Valencia; Marta Soriano, in the women's under-14, from Madrid; Valentín González-Galiño, in the men's U12, from Barcelona; Sofía Fernández, in the women's under-12, from Toledo.

This tournament is part of the seventh edition of the junior tennis circuit powered by Rafa Nadal, a benchmark in Spain and which in turn stands out for promoting the values ​​of sport among the participants, such as camaraderie, effort or sportsmanship.

The one in Madrid was the third tournament of the Rafa Nadal Tour by Mapfre 2020, after the disputed in Barcelona and Seville. Next, the circuit will hold tournaments that had to be postponed due to the Covid-19 crisis: Alicante (August), Valldoreix – Barcelona- (September) and Valencia (October). Finally, The 32 youngsters classified (8 per category) will compete in the Master in Mallorca in November, at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar facilities.

The Rafa Nadal Tour by Mapfre is a solidarity circuit, since all the economic benefits go to the Rafa Nadal Foundation. With sport as a pillar of the different projects, this organization works to reinforce the integration and personal and social development of children and youth, in Spain and India. The foundation focuses its work on three areas: social integration of vulnerable minors, care for young people with intellectual disabilities, and promotion of sports talent.

The seventh edition of the circuit is possible thanks to the support of Mapfre, the main sponsor since the beginning, as well as KIA, Nike, Heliocare, Babolat and I-Con Sports, in addition to Coca-Cola in the sub-14 categories. All of them are companies that share the values ​​and philosophy of the Rafa Nadal Tour by Mapfre.
