Barcelona is pending to make a remodeling to a Camp Nou which has received a lot of criticism in recent months for the state of the building. But nevertheless, a study carried out by the English comparator Money stands out as the second best stadium in Europe, only behind Borussia Dortmund’s Westfalenstadion. This second place is shared with other great stadiums such as Steaua in Bucharest, Wales, Poland, Tottenham or Real Madrid.
This study is carried out evaluating the average grades given to each venue by the websites Google, Tripadvisor Y Football Ground Map. Being the maximum score a 5, the mentioned Dortmund stadium has a score of 4.57 and the second classified a rating of 4.53. It is striking that new stadiums such as the Wanda Metropolitano or San Mamés are in ninth and eleventh position respectively, with a rating of 4.47 for Madrid and 4.43 for Basques. The next Spanish stadium that we can find is that of Mestalla, in the 26th position, with a score of 4.33.
The bad news for Spanish football is that, just as it has stadiums among the best rated in Europe, it also has several among the worst. For example, Balaídos ranks second from the bottom with a score of 3.37, only behind Carlo Castellani from Empoli. Then it is closely followed by the Alfonso Pérez Coliseum in Getafe, with 3.43. In fourteenth place we find that of Villarreal (3.67), in the eighteenth that of Alavés (3.70) and in the twenty-seventh that of Mallorca (3.77).
