The Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank 2022 circuit returns this Tuesday, August 23, with the fifth stop of this edition, which is held in the emblematic Plaza del Castillo in Pamplona, after the summer break, according to a statement from the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB ).
The competition will coincide with the presence of the Spanish men’s team, which this Wednesday will play its first match of the second qualifying phase for the 2023 World Cup against Iceland.
For this day of the Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank 2022, which will be the fifth of this year’s edition, 564 players have registered in 144 teams from all categories. The competition will start at approximately 9:30 a.m. and will last until mid-afternoon, when, after the dispute over the competitions, the trophy distribution ceremony will be held for the winners.
The event will be combined with competitions, on a day in which the historic former player Fernando Romay will act as FEB Ambassador, in addition to Miguel Navarrete, director of the CaixaBank Institutions Center in
Navarre; Pablo Bretos, president of the Navarra Basketball Federation; and José Ignacio Roldán, vice-president of the same federation. The competition will have multiple tracks, among which the CaixaBank Track will stand out, where the men’s finals will be played, and the Universe Women’s Track, which will host the women’s finals.
The event has the support of the Navarre Sports Institute of the Government of Navarra and the Pamplona City Council, as well as the collaboration of the Navarra Basketball Federation. A team of volunteers attached to the FEB-CaixaBank Volunteer Program will also participate.
After passing through Melilla, Madrid, Malaga, Palma and now Pamplona, the circuit will continue its tour of Spain in the coming weekends, the most immediate in A Coruña, Santander and Barcelona, and plans to put the finishing touch to the year in the middle October in Leganés.
Since 2012, when the FEB launched the Plaza 3×3 program, the circuit has reached 101 stops, 45,000 participants and 225,000 visitors, all in a total of 42 cities throughout Spain.
