The Orioles have signed a 30-year plan to stay at Camden Yards.

The Orioles as well as the State of Maryland signed a 30-year lease for Camden Yards on Monday. The Maryland Stadium Authority or the state’s Board of Public Works approved the deal at special meetings.

After the Orioles and Governor Wes Moore signed a statement of understanding at the end of September, those were the last steps that had to be taken.

Moore told the press at a Camden Yards warehouse event, “Today is a great day, and I can’t wait to tell you why.” “I’ve been meaning to say this for a long time. “Belfast, the deal is done.”

December 31 was the last day of the lease. The new deal was signed after being passed by Moore, Treasurer Dereck Davis, as well as Comptroller Brooke Lierman, who all sit on the Board of Public Works.

This means that the Orioles will stay at the ballpark where they have played since it opened in 1992.

In a statement, Moore said, “From the start, I made it clear that we would only sign an agreement that puts Maryland taxpayers first, keeps the Orioles in Baltimore for a long time, and benefits the whole City of Baltimore.

That is exactly what we accomplished here by extending the Orioles’ stadium lease at Camden, NJ Yards for another 30 years.”

The Orioles are an important part of the local Baltimore community, and we’re happy to continue our relationship with them through a deal that builds on the broad goals we set out in our earlier this year memorandum of understanding.

“This deal will not only improve the world-class crowd experience at Camden Yards, but it will also improve the city as a whole.

We are thrilled that Marylanders will be able to see playoff baseball within Baltimore for many years to come.”

Even though the lease was extended for 30 years, the Orioles can end it after 15 years if they don’t get permission from the state government to build on the land around Camden Yards. That’s something the team has until the year of 2027 to work out.

The deal also includes a “no-relocation” rule that makes it financially unattractive for the Orioles to move from Baltimore, where they have been since 1954.

During the Board of Public Works meeting, Orioles executive vice president and chief operational officer Greg Bader said, “There is nowhere else the Orioles would rather play championship ball than here at Camden Yards.”

“Our management group led the Orioles to the top of the league last year, and now, with the help of Governor Wes Moore and his staff, they made this deal possible,” said John Angelos, chairman and CEO of the Orioles.

“Most importantly, I’m glad we can keep our promise to fans and keep the Orioles in Baltimore for another 30 years. This will be the team’s 100th season in the city.”

Camden Yards is owned by the state of Maryland, and the Orioles’ lease there was set to end at the end of the year.

The team announced in September that they would stay at the field for 30 years, and the governor’s office made public details of an agreement between the team, the venue’s authority, or the governor.

This month, some Maryland officials, like Bill Ferguson, the president of the state Senate, were worried about a human rights agreement which formed part of the deal.

Ferguson, whose district comprises the ballpark, has been in favor of the new plan that was agreed upon since then. This is because state panels will be more involved in overseeing future growth.
