The North Face presents the Himalayan suit for women

MADRID, 8 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The brand specialized in adventure and outdoor sports The North Face presents the first Himalayan suit designed specifically for women, created by a team of athletes, designers and product experts and that integrates the best technology of the company to face the more demanding climbs.

Women like Kit DesLauriers and the Dawa Yangzum Sherpa have paved the way by scaling peaks and pushing the limits of mountaineering in gear that wasn’t designed for them. The new Himalayan suit for women from The North Face, the most advanced technical suit ever made, meets the needs in this type of adventure in terms of comfort and durability.

“Leveraging our best technologies, materials and manufacturing techniques, with insights gained from decades of supporting the world’s best athletes in the high mountains, The North Face Women’s Himalayan Suit prepares the next generation of female explorers to reach their most extreme dreams and show it off,” said Laura Akita, category manager for The North Face.

The North Face athlete Dawa Yangzum Sherpa is just one of the women who continue to make their way on expeditions. Growing up in a Himalayan village with no electricity or running water, at age 9 she already knew that she would one day summit Everest.

She fulfilled her dream at the age of 21 and became the first Nepali, and one of just over 100 women from around the world, to obtain the most elite title in mountaineering: the International Federation of Mountain Guide Associations certification. .

Since then, Dawa has been a part of countless expeditions and the development of the new suit. She has driven the change to ensure the material is up to his incredible level of skill and determination.

“My goal was to climb Everest once, that was my big dream. Once and that’s it, but it wasn’t like that. It was just the beginning of my career. I went back to guide Everest with the men’s size suit small. I felt very very uncomfortable”, commented.

Dawa worked with the women’s product team to review the design, fit and performance of the suit. Ella’s sizing has been revamped with the introduction of a better-fitting strap system with integrated storage, inspired by running vests and made to better fit women.

“Designing The North Face’s first women’s Himalayan suit has been a labor of love and commitment to female athletes around the world. For years, we have worked tirelessly with our female athletes to bring to life the most advanced and innovative suit for women mountaineers. “said Erica Cottrell, Director of Design for The North Face.

The suit also joins the technical need required for expeditions at altitude such as the Futurelight exterior with Spectra ripstop on the lower part of the arms and the back panel and the lower part of the legs is waterproof and resistant to friction, providing protection against rubbing against rocks.
