The Real Betis will resume the league competition visiting next Monday November 23 the New San Mamés, the only stadium of the teams that currently make up the First Division where the Verdiblancos have never scored, who lost in their six league visits and were also eliminated in the 2013/14 round of 16 of the Copa del Rey, losing 2-0 after winning 1-0 in the Benito Villamarin.
Real Betis has visited Nuevo San Mamés seven times – it was the second team to do so in official competition, after Celta, in September 2013 – and the seven visits have resulted in defeat, with a balance of 13 goals in favor of Bilbao and only 3 for Betica, who have remained unmarked in their last three visits and have not done so since Rubén Castro scored the 2-1 that closed the gap on April 27, 2017. Rubén, who also scored in the previous visit (3-1 in March 2016) and Jorge Molina, who made it 0-1 in the first (then Athletic won 2-1, in September 2013) are to date the only Betic players who have scored in the New San Mamés.
The last Real Betis victory in the Athletic field took place in the old San Mamés, in the first day of the 2012/13 League, when the Verdiblancos won 3-5, with two goals from Jorge Molina and one from Rubén Castro, Beñat and Pozuelo, while the locals scored De Marcos and San José, this one twice.
Four defeats at Villarreal, three at Wanda and Getafe …
The second field in LaLiga, after Nuevo San Mamés, where Betis has been losing the longest is Villarreal, where they accumulate four defeats in a row, for three at Wanda – he tied four ago – and at the Coliseum in Getafe. At the Bernabéu, the Betis have two draws and a victory in their last three visits, at the Mestalla they just won, and at the Camp Nou or Sánchez-Pizjuán they won on their penultimate visits. The Nuevo San Mamés is the only scenario that still resists Betis.
