The new Bernabéu ensures revenue of 1,000 million

In order not to distort the accounts presented to the members (in comparison with those of the previous year) the club has not included the loan for the stadium, which is reflected separately in the financial report. Either way, it has only taken so far 100 of the 570 million it requested for reform. Another 270 million will be taken in the next month of July and the last 200 in July 2022. Shortly after that date the works should be about to finish. “In 2022 the stadium will be finished”, Florentino assured the members in the Assembly on Sunday. In the best of scenarios, without a pandemic and with the new stadium at full capacity, the club has the forecast to increase its income by about 200 million euros, according to ABC. But for this, the newspaper publishes, Madrid plans to request a new loan related to the works of an additional 160 million …

It is worth remembering the loan conditions that Real Madrid requested for the stadium: 575 million euros for a 30-year term and a fixed interest of 2.5%, which will mean a total cost of the work (including interest) of 796.5 million euros. “The loan also includes,” the club reported when the agreement was signed, in April 2019, “three years of grace period for repayment of the principal, which will make Real Madrid pay a fixed annual fee of 29.5 million euros, starting on July 30, 2023 and until maturity on July 30, 2049 ”.

On the one hand, the work has coincided with the crisis due to the pandemic, but on the other hand this has caused, due to the absence of public in the stadiums, that can be streamlined to, at least, meet deadlines and lower costs.

Madrid estimates that the pandemic has reduced the income that it should have this season by 300 million (they have remained at 617 in the budget that was approved last Sunday. With the new stadium, which will be a kind of multipurpose center (concerts, fairs … beyond the commercial and restaurant spaces) and without a pandemic, revenues must exceed 1 billion.
