The National Police is integrated into the German security device for the Euro 2024

Since this Friday, the National Police has been integrated into the security device of the German forces established at Euro 2024 for the protection of fans on public transport, as well as in those places where large crowds occur, due to the thousands of people who are expected to attend the different meetings that will be held between the participating teams.

Specifically, as reported by the National Police in a statement, 25 agents from the Police Intervention Units (UIP) and six independent police officers from the National Sports Office (OND) will be deployed jointly with the German Federal Police to ensure the citizen security and the attention of Spanish fans who will support the Spanish National Team. The group of agents will move to the venues where Spain will compete in the different phases.

Furthermore, in some states they will collaborate in the police security of the competition’s own ‘land’, as well as in the meeting areas intended for the location of fans attending the matches.

To carry out their duties, the UIP national police officers traveled at the beginning of June to the Federal Police Academy in Bamberg (Germany), along with other European police forces, to receive the necessary training for joint operational deployment in the different Länder. The Spanish police contingent is the largest within the international police force that will participate in the Euro 2024, providing uniform service in support of the Federal Police.

For their part, the six police officers from the National Sports Office (OND) will be part of the International Police Cooperation Center (IPCC) installed in the city of Neuss, and made up of two police officers from each participating country, German authorities, UEFA personnel , EUROPOL and INTERPOL, and from which all information related to the security of the tournament will be managed.

Likewise, four other police officers will be part of a Mobile Team that will be located in the cities where the Spanish Soccer Team will play its matches and will support the German Police during the device, assisting the Spanish fans and serving as a point of contact with the team. security of the Spanish National Team.

The Spanish agents were received on June 10 at the Neuss City Hall on the occasion of the welcome ceremony, in which the Minister of the Interior of the Federal Republic of Germany, Nancy Faeser, participated; and the Minister of the Interior of North Rhine-Westphalia, Herbert Reul; tournament director Philipp Lahm; and the director of the IPCC Oliver Strudhoff, as well as the Interior Advisors of the participating countries.
